Ever wake up feeling like this?
Is anyone interested in the who, what, why, when and where with respect to this photo? Submit your best guesses and the winner will receive a deer head from "The Godfather". BB CEO BAM
Post Hank Schwynn batchelor party photo taken somewhere in the north end of Boise - 20th or something - where's my deer head?
Wrong---Hank had bigger feet then that. Clue to "where", Boise is about 300 miles to far south. BB
Could this be Uncle Barney the morning after his bachelor party? Those big feet do not belong to my Dad! If I am correct, please do not send the deer head! My Dad thinks this might be Kayo Wilks.
Sharon, glad to see you are following the goings on at Brunelle Nation and sharing them with your dad. The "who" isn't our cousin Kayo but that was a pretty good guess as he, like Adonis, once stalked the wily stag. Keep those guesses coming. BB
I'll take a wild guess and say the subject is Mr. Grismer, in a Gonzaga dorm room in Spokane, following a night of debauchery. There are dress shoes as well as work boots under the cot-style bed, leading me to believe it's a fairly permanent base of operation for the person sleeping. It's a nice trophy, maybe from the main dining hall....
The guesses are getting closer to the "where", but, Spokane wasn't the place. Had it been in Spokane then it would have been "My Friend Bill" at Gonzaga (see "Off The Top of My Head" found elsewhere in computer-land). A clue is that if the where is determined the who will naturally follow. The "why" after all these years continues to perplex me.
John, you guessed the guy but missed the where. The body of work below the deer head is Dave Fellin. Dave and I were roommates living at the Campus Club at the University of Idaho in the late 1940's and early '50's. The U of I is located at Moscow. I can't remember how we came to have a mounted deer in our possession at this time. I'll call Dave (he lives in Missoula) and find out what he may remember about this. Other then being the bottom part of a deer, Dave distinguished himself as being a part of the U of I's ski team at this time; he and a bunch of Norwegian engineering exchange students who lived at the Campus Club. Dave got his degree in Forestry and after a tour of duty in the Army with the ski troops went on to get his doctorate in Entomology at Oregon State U.
