How to make salsa...

A photo recipe from my facebook page; Michael asked me to post here. Captions in sequence:

1. Pour a little boiling water over a tablespoon of crushed red pepper flakes. If you don't like it spicy, use less. I'd caution against using more.

2. Quarter a large sweet onion, crush the skin off a clove of garlic, de-seed a half dozen (or fewer) jalapeno peppers, and toss them in the cuisinart. Pulse it a few times.

3. Toss in the red pepper flakes, some kosher salt, the juice of 1 lime, about a teaspoon of cumin, a couple drops of olive oil, and a splash of balsamic vinegar.

4. Cut about 2 cups of tomatoes into large chunks.

5. Pulse it all together to desired coarseness.

6. Hand chop and stir in some cilantro. Pour into nonreactive bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it set in the refrigerator for a couple hours. Drain off a little of the excess water (can be used to spice up a bloody mary) and it's ready to enjoy.

Again, adjust peppers to taste. Made as above it's pretty hot. Enjoy!
