- I graduated with my Bachelor's of Equestrian Science from William Woods University in May 2009.
I've landed my dream job training Arabian show horses near Little Rock, Arkansas. The facility is called Bray's Training Center, owned by Jay and Robin Bray. They've kindly "adopted" me like family, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it here. I ride anywhere from 4 to 10 horses a day, and while my job consists mainly of riding/training, I also feed morning and evening, and have taken on cleaning and organizing the barn as my own project. It's been impressing the clients although I have received flack for being "OCD" over how clean it is.
I give riding lessons occasionally, though it is really just to supplement income, as the training is the important part, and the real money maker. Unfortunately the industry has been slow lately, but all are hopeful its picking up again.
Bray's has a lot to offer me in the near future, as Jay is retiring from training which will make me the head trainer. Not bad for right out of college! I owe the job to my experience horse showing, and the reputation I have gained, and the college degree helps to formalize it and increases the salary, though my income will largely be based on my ability to attract and keep business. These are also skills I learned in some great business classes at William Woods.
Future plans include Class A Arabian shows in Texas and Oklahoma, the Egyptian Event in Kentucky, Region IX Championships, and hopefully the U.S. Nationals in Tulsa next October.

- Merry Christmas Katie! Wish you were here. We are visiting until Jan 6, then back to the grind. Lots of snow, Bea and I made snow angels in the backyard. We are starting our second childhood.
