Joe Lafrenz

     Joseph F. Lafrenz, 64, died July 26, 2011 in The Dalles after a short battle with cancer.  A private service will be held on Saturday, August 6.


     He was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Wallace, Idaho, to Nicholas and Loretta (Brunelle) Lafrenz. Joe was raised in The Dalles and attended The Dalles High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1963 and served in Vietnam. Joe received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was discharged in 1967.

     Joe was a maintenance technician and retired from Boeing in 2006. He was divorced. He resided in Troutdale from 1976 to 1991 and in Corbett from 1991 to 2006.

 

     Joe was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and cycling.


     Joe also loved gardening and looked forward to a great harvest of tomatoes every year.


     His sister, Marguerite Jorgensen, preceded him in death.
     Survivors include his sons, Jeff Lafrenz, Gresham and Jason Lafrenz, Milwaukie; companion, Patty Hyde,  The Dalles; brothers, Nicholas Lafrenz, Tigard; Alvan Lafrenz,  Tucson, Ariz., and Anthony Lafrenz, Portland; sister, Mimi Jett, Portland and one grandchild.
